Wow. Thanks a lot. Paul Tudor Jones is a legendary figure and i hope to benefit from this video.
Best wishes,
Janak Merchant
Thanks John. That was great.
wow, thanks for posting John, very interesting
Concentrate on losses & take them and set profit targets.
Before you enter have a game plan & follow it…
..
Wow! Thanks for the vids. Living down in FL, I don’t get much exposure to or have any networks of traders to get a feel for what it’s really like. These vids gave me goosebumps. Thank you so much.
“If people quit thinking about pie in the sky stuff, and spend 90% of their time concentrating on risk, they will be very, very successful.”
How true, how true.
It appears to have been “Pulled by request.” I assume there was a copyright issue.
Why was this video removed?
This video was removed at the “suggestion” of PTJ’s General Councel.
Oh, man. I wanted to watch it again. Gladly I did get to watch it. Thanks again John for posting it.
I am surprised the YouTube one was not closed quick too.
To be honest, me too. If they’ve got their copyright firmly in place then I’d have thought it would come down very quickly. For what it’s worth, I had nothing to do with the YouTube posting and have no idea who did it.
where is the video
As indicated, it’s had to be taken down.
Paul Tudor Jones came across as an incredibly driven and focused individual. It mentions the fact that he was a college boxing champ – odds on that he had the required killer instinct to be a “knock-out artist”!!!

hi john just listened to yur interview with the Dr. in the first part the Dr discusses his trade metrics, i’ve fooled around in excel trying to come up with a way to track my trades. it’s becoming overwhelming… i’m just getting familiar with excel. is there a template available? could yu share the metric yu use for me to use as a guide? great interview by the way, i hope yu can ask him back for more insights. thx sam
Sam – What kind of trade tracking are we talking about here? Are you thinking in terms of journalizing your decision-making processes? Or are you looking for performance statistics for a trading system?
Hi John, performance statistics, here’s a post by the Dr. i’m using as initial stats to monitor.
http://traderfeed.blogspot.com/2009/08/value-of-trading-metrics.html
here’s what i’m starting with:
Average sizes of your winning and losing trades;
Number of winning and losing trades broken down by:
Time of Day/Day of Week
Holding period of winning & losing trades
Specific Market or Stock/Stock Sector
Specific Strategy/Setups (I have 4 basic plays) entries. Include the average heat I take on Initial
Position & Adds to Position.
Specific Trade Management (Initial Stop, Reducing Size as a form of Reducing Risk, just
after entry mkt bases instead of moves away from Low/High, Moving stops, Partial Profits &
Adding to Position,
Specific Exit Strategy (I have 2 exit plays)
After Exit track what Market did, (continue in direction of trade, Base or Reverse)
Market Condition (trending up/down, non-trending)
Size of Position
Number of Trades
Contingent returns, broken down by:
How I trade after a string of winning trades?
How I trade after a string of loses?
How I trade in different moods?
I’m struggling with format (tie everything together and displaying results and excel formulas. I have contacted others who have made comments in the Dr.s posts on “trading metrics” hoping for a starting spreadsheet. i have also contacted and signed up for excel basics at our local community college.. thx sam
Sam – Much of what you want to accomplish looks to be doable by including the appropriate columns in your tracking spreadsheet and doing sorts based on those criteria. The more complex stuff, however, may require development of VBA macros. Sorry, I don’t have an example of that sort of thing I can provide.
Thx for responding John, i’m working thru it now, i’ll send yu a post on the spreedsheet for others who might be interested.
Thx
